Competition 2020
The activities of the MAKARANTA 2020 competition (7th edition) were launched on 20 February 2020 with the distribution of questionnaires to be completed at the Djougou 1 and Djougou 2 school district level. 22 schools were invited to participate and 21 schools completed the questionnaire in time.
Ten schools were shortlisted by the jury led by Cathérine Paul based on the criteria of the questionnaire and visited by members of the jury.
The following table shows the schools that won 1st and 2nd prize:
Municipality | District | Type/Name of school | Number of teachers | Number of pupils | Amount of prize won |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Djougou | Partago | EPP / BONIKPARA | 04 | 248 | 1000 Euros or 655 000 FCFA |
Djougou | Bougou | EPP / KADJAKADIKE | 04 | 200 | 500 Euros or 327 500 FCFA |
The reasons for awarding the 1st prize to Bonikpara School are:
- Cleanliness: a regularly cleaned and very shady place;
- Recruitment, attendance: a newly established school with a very high attendance as can be seen from the size of the CI and CP classes (80 students);
- The strategy or technique of transferring knowledge from teachers to learners.
The money raised is used for the construction of two classrooms with the participation of the students' parents by providing labour through brick making, water supply, back filling and mason's helpers.
